Posted: 06 Feb 2015 06:44 AM PST Ancient Tamil Civilization: In Pugalur, near Karur, the ancient chera capital a number of inscriptions were discovered. One of them is important for it is a record of a Chera King of the irumpoRai line which ruled from karur in the Sangam Age. It may be seen that both the inscriptions carry the same content and record that, 'Ilamkatunko', son of Perumkatunko, who was the son of Ko Atan Cel Irumporai, got these beds ut as the abode of an Amana, the Elder Cenkayapan of Yarrur. The gift was made when Ilankatunko was made Ilanko-'Crown Prince'. The term 'Ko' suggests that this is a royal family. The names Atan Cel Irumporai clearly show that the Kings mentioned in the record are the Cheras. Thus the record mentions three generations of the Chera line: Ko Atan Cel Irumporai his son - Perumkatunko and his son - Katunko Ilanko. The Meaning of the inscription Muta Amannan Yarrur Cenkayapan Urai Ko Atan Cellirumporai Makan Perum Katunkon Makan lan katuno lanko aki arutta Kal The rock (Shelter) was carved when (i) Lanka TunkO, the son of perunka TunkOn, the son of King Atan sel irumpoRai, became the heir apparent. http://www.tamilheritage.org/kidangku/DrSwaminathan/scripts/08a_Scripts_of_Tamilnadu_1_Tamil-Brahmi.pdf http://www.tnarch.gov.in/epi/ins1.htm புகளூர் கரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்த ஊரில் ஆறு நாட்டார் என்று ஓரு மலை உள்ளது. மலையடி வாரத்து ஊரை வேலாயுதம்பாளையம் என்பர். இம் மலைப்பகுதியில் இக்கல்வெட்டுக்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. மொத்தம் 12 கல்வெட்டுக்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. இவை அனைத்தும் சங்க காலத்தமிழ் எழுத்தில் எழுதப்பெற்றுள்ளன. மொழி தமிழாகும். இவற்றுள் இரு கல்வெட்டுகள் சேர மன்னர்கள் வழங்கிய கொடை பற்றிக் கூறுகின்றன. எனவே, இவை மிக முக்கியத்துவம் பெறுகின்றன. அனைத்துக் கல்வெட்டுக்களும் சமண முனிவருக்குச் செய்து கொடுத்த படுக்கை என்று வழங்கப்படும் பாளிய் மற்றும் அதிட்டானம் குறித்தது. மூதா அமண்ணன் யாற்றூர் செங்காயபன் உறைய் கோ ஆதன் செல்லிரும்பொறை மகன் கடுங்கோன் மகன் ளங் கடுங்கோன் ளங்கோ ஆக அறுத்த கல் செய்தி : யாற்றூரைச் சேர்ந்த செங்காயபன் என்னும் துறவிக்குச் சேரமன்னர் செல்லிரும்பொறை மகனான பெருங்கடுங்கோவின் மகன் இளங்கடுங்கோ இளவரசர் ஆவதை முன்னிட்டு வழங்கப்பட்ட கொடை. சிறப்புகள் : • சங்க கால சேர அரசர்களின் கல்வெட்டு • கோ ஆதன், செல்லிரும்பொறை , பெருங்கடுங்கோ, இளங்கடுங்கோ ஆகிய அரசர்களின் பெயர்கள் குறிப்பிடப்பெற்றுள்ளன • கோஆதன் செல்லிரும்பொறையின் மகன் பெருங்கடுங்கோவின் மகன் இளங்கடுங்கோ இளங்கோ ஆவதன் பொருட்டு பாளிய் அமைத்துக் கொடுத்துள்ள செய்தியைக் கூறுகின்றது • சேர அரசின் மூன்று தலைமுறை இதன் மூலம் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. • இதிலுள்ள அரசர்கள் பதிற்றுப்பத்தில் 7, 8, 9 ஆம் பத்திற்குரிய தலைவர்களாக அடையாளப்படுத்தப் பெற்றுள்ளனர். http://www.tamilvu.org/tdb/titles_cont/inscription/html/pukalur.htm  |
